Congratulations to all of our winners and we thank our wonderful judges who each had very hard decisions!!!! Erik & I were very pleased we were not judging as we could have not chosen a winner. Every car there was absolutely beautiful and we thank you all for coming! We would also like to thank the Virginia Farm Bureau agents who sponsored the trophies and S&B Trophies of Floyd for doing such a great job on the trophies!!
Saturday July 16th - The show was great! Thanks to everybody for coming out despite the misting/rain we all saw some of! Tomorrow I will post photos that Sarah Greene of Sarah Greene Photography took at the show. We will also post the Farm Bureau trophy winners. Thanks to Sinkland Farms for letting us have this event at their farm. Thanks to all of our sponsors and the donations for the door prizes!! Thanks to our food vendors, Bootleg BBQ and Bahama Sno Shack for the Great food and for keeping up with all the demand so well! Thanks to my mother, Marian, for writing up all the car show registrations! Thanks to all of our judges today(especially Johnny Dalton for getting the judging so organized!!) - you guys did a great job and everyone seemed quite pleased with the results!! Tomorrow I will post all the details, thanks, and future plans but for right now we are worn out from today!
Friday July 15th The Weather is going to be AWESOME!!!! Everything is rolling along great for this to be amazing show!! The phone keeps ringing with more cars and people wanting to get a spot and we still have room for more!! We will be at Sinkland Farms Friday evening from 6-9 pm for those swap meet/vendors that need to be setting up early. You can still register for a spot, just come see us on Friday evening or Saturday morning and we will get you set up. Dont forget- if you are bringing a car up through the Floyd area towards the show, a bunch of cars are meeting at Rays Rest in Floyd at 10:30 am to all cruise together. The Floyd Sheriffs Dept has been notified that the cars will be coming through at that time so if there is alot of cars they can assist. The photographer, Sarah Greene, will be in town photographing as the cars come round the corner. Hope to see everybody out there!!!!!
On Saturday the 16th of July, 2011 the 1st semi annual Chasing Cars Car show and Swap meet will be taking place at Sinkland Farms aka The Pumpkin Festival Farm on Rte 8 in Riner (exit 114 off 81 and head towards Floyd. Farm is less than 2 miles on the left). This is an awesome location as there is parking for 1000+ visitor cars plus a great area for the cars on display and then acres still left for the swap meet! This event is planned for twice a year, summer and fall.
Not only will there be beautiful classic cars and a great selection of classic car parts, there will be awesome door prizes, wonderful food and live music by Upland Express, Lonesome Cowboys & the Triple B's. So grab your date and plan to stay awhile and enjoy this community event!!
Mid summer is an great time to spend a day in the cooler mountains of Virginia. If you still think it might be too warm there is a beautiful barn all set up with tables and a stage (live music begins in the evening!!) and also another building with all your favorite flavors of ice cream. This building also has a beautiful selection of assorted types of art from local artists that will be available for sale.
There will be plenty of food and drinks all day. There will be great BBQ being made by Jon Beegle. He will be making pulled pork sandwiches, quarter chicken, baby back ribs, baked beans and homemade slaw! Buffalo Mountain Concessions will also be there with ice cold lemonade, funnel cakes, hot dogs and fries. I do know there will be kettle corn and potato chips being made on site and plenty of sodas and water.
The United Way will be having a BEER GARDEN in the afternoon!! All proceeds from the beer will be going to the United Way. The Admission to the Beer Garden/Barn Dance area is $5.00 and this will be good for all of the bands -ALL DAY!!
There is no general admission for visitors to the car show/swap meet, just a $3 per car fee for parking. We are very grateful to Sinkland Farms for letting us have this event at their beautiful farm!!

There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies awarded in each category except Peoples Choice.
Must be registered by 12 noon July 16th, 2011 to be judged.
$15 registration fee.
Trophies for each category (except People's Choice) will be awarded at 3:45pm
People's Choice trophies will be awarded at 4pm. Drawing's for prizes will also be held at this time.
If you would just like to come in your classic car or truck but not be judged that is great as well! We want to see as many classics there as we can get!!
If you are interested in meeting in the town of Floyd about 10:30 at Rays Restaurant alot of the cars show cars will be meeting and driving thru the town of Floyd to the Riner show. We will be tied up at the show grounds so we are really upset we will be missing out on this but Tuff Nichols from Nichols Brothers Exaust in Floyd has volunteered to lead this really cool parade to the show. Tuff will also be in charge of announcing the car show winners and doing the drawings for the door prizes. UPDATE!! Tuff has found out that he will be taking his niece to NY to take a test and will be unable to be with us at the show. We will miss him & his family but we wish his niece the best on her test!! Arthur Spence has volunteered to take his place with the cruise from Rays and we are working on a new announcer.
Sarah Greene of Greene Photography will be at the show all day taking photos of this event and will be available to photograph individual cars if you are interested. She is also available to photograph your events or your family or pet portraits.

Mike Metzler of Floyd will be bringing at least 15 of his classic pedal cars to display. These cool classic pedal cars are really rare and definitely worth seeing!!
Fire Station #1 of Floyd will be at the show (hopefully with their cool old Dodge Fire Truck!!!) and will be doing a 50/50 drawing at the show- proceeds from this to go to the Fire & Rescue - of course!! Also, they will be selling raffle tickets for a VT Tailgate Grill. The drawing for this to be held at a later date
We have been working on getting sponsors to donate cool stuff for door prize drawings at the show. Only the people registered in the show or selling parts in the swap meet are in the drawing for these prizes. We are working on getting some raffle prizes as well for everyone to participate in. If you are interested in sponsoring the show in some way please contact us. As soon as I get a list made up and more people contacted I will be posting up a complete list of sponsors and the prizes they are donating.
Swap meet/ parts Buy Sell Swap Trade- $15 per 15'x20' space. Bring your leftovers from your restoration project or that stuff that you keep tripping over in your garage and turn it into cash!! You may bring (drive or trailer) a car or truck to sell in your space. You can set up your swap meet stuff in the morning from 7:30 on, or if you would like to set up the evening before that's fine also. Commercial dealers are also welcome. Contact me for more info. Tents are welcome.
DOOR PRIZES & DRAWINGS
Everybody that preregisters or registers for the car show or the swap meet is registered in the drawings for the door prizes. You must be present to win. Drawings will be held at about 4pm along with the People's Choice trophies.
I will list the prizes and the sponsors that are donating them below and keep adding to the list as we get more. If you would like to sponsor a prize please contact us.
We here at Chasing SS Cars will be supplying Dash Plaques to the 1st 50 preregistered or registered cars in the show
The Virginia Farm Bureau is sponsoring all of the Trophies for the show and hopefully will be able to be setting up at the show so those of you not familiar with them can get some info. We have Virginia Farm Bureau insurance on our vehicles and also on our farm and are very pleased!! The Farm Bureau also offers Collector Car Insurance at very reasonable rates so give your local agent a call and see what they can do for you.
Our trophies and dash plaques are being made by Jamie and Wendy Adkins, the owners of S & B Trophies, Plaques, Engraving and Gifts of Floyd, Va. They are really great to work with and do excellent work so give them a call when you need trophies or plaques for your event.
Greene Photography of Willis will be donating a 11"x14" photo of the People's Choice Winner's car. The photo will be taken at the show and may be just of the car or the car and it's owners, however the winner would like. Also, a donation of a 5"x7" photo of the 1st place winners in each group. The 5"x7" winners may upgrade to an 11"x14" (or another size) at an additional cost.
Josh Cook of Cook's Upholstery in Christiansburg is donating a free window tinting for a car or truck. This will be a drawing open to all of the people registered in the show/swap meet. Josh will also be set up the day of the show and I believe he will be available to do window tinting at the show!!
James T Davis Automotive Finishes in Christiansburg has donated a ATD 7" Variable Speed BUFFER!!! This will be a drawing open to all of the people registered in the show/swap meet.

If you would like to preregister for the show or swap meet just mail a 3x5 card to us with how many cars you would like to enter or spaces in the swap meet you would like. Please include your name, address, phone number and for a car show entry - the make, model, year and the class you would like to be entered into. The folks at Auburn Baptist Church have asked us to let people know about their upcoming show and below you will find the info on it. Come on out to their show and lets show the kids some beautiful cars so they will learn to love them as we do!!!
The car show will be held at Auburn Baptist Church, 3840 Riner Road, as a finale for our vacation bible school, themed Rev it up! The show will be Friday July 22 from 6-9 PM. There is no entry fee and there will be no trophies presented. However, all car owners will be invited to enjoy in the VBS cookout free of charge starting at about 7:15 PM. For weary car owners worried about children being near their cars, there will be a tape barrier set up, extra adult shaperones, and an announcement made to all children before they are released to enjoy the cars.
